Peeking I
Installation
One-way mirror, silicone, LED lights, cabinet
2022
Peeking critically examines the themes of female bodily autonomy and the pervasive voyeurism embedded within patriarchal frameworks. Utilizing metaphoric representations through a screen and a lingerie cabinet, the artwork symbolizes the private realms of women, which are paradoxically subjected to male voyeuristic practices. Incorporated within the installation is a one-way mirror that serves as an investigative tool into voyeuristic practices. In the absence of illumination, it functions as a conventional mirror. However, once illuminated, the mirror leverages optical variations to produce a seemingly infinite space populated by countless eyes, symbolically representing the ubiquity of the voyeur.
